Span gaps, defy gravity, engineer triumph
This is not just a building exercise: STIIX Bridge Project is a rich, scaffolded learning experience. Teachers receive step-by-step instructional videos (introduction, academic concept, “how to,” testing & evaluation, industry spotlight), full lesson plans, slide decks, worksheets, and testing templates. Designers constrain resources (balsa wood, glue, supports) and span length, forcing students to balance efficiency, strength, and economy. As students test weight loads, monitor deflection, and compare designs, they get first-hand experience iterating on real prototypes.
Aligning to NGSS, TEKS, and engineering/design standards, STIIX Bridge Project brings authentic STEM into your classroom. Whether in a regular class period, STEM elective, makerspace, or competition environment, this project offers 3–4 hours of programming, adjustable to fit your pacing.
Teachers love the minimal prep required and the built-in scaffolding. Administrators appreciate the rigorous alignment, cross-disciplinary potential (math, science, language arts), and the career link to civil engineering, infrastructure, and construction. Students get the thrill of failure, iteration, and ultimate success in seeing their bridges hold weight—and learning from what breaks.
