STIIX Bridge Project

Span gaps, defy gravity, engineer triumph

Challenge your students to design and build a balsa-wood truss bridge in the thrilling STIIX Bridge Project. They’ll explore load, tension, compression, failure points, and team design—documenting, iterating, improving—all within a standards-aligned, ready-to-go kit.

In the STIIX Bridge Project, learners step into the shoes of civil engineers tasked with connecting a growing city in STIIX-Ville. Across hands-on design, build, test, and redesign cycles, students explore core engineering principles—load distribution, tension, compression, structural integrity, and failure modes.

STIIX Bridge Project turns your classroom into a miniature lab of structural innovation—where students design, test, and redefine what a bridge can do.

Unlock Your Students’ Engineering Superpowers with STIIX-Ville

STIIX-Ville is a dynamic maker world where students become real engineers—building bridges, clean-energy systems, HVAC models, water networks, and glider planes through hands-on exploration. It turns every STEM challenge into an exciting, build-test-innovate adventure.

Span gaps, defy gravity, engineer triumph

This is not just a building exercise: STIIX Bridge Project is a rich, scaffolded learning experience. Teachers receive step-by-step instructional videos (introduction, academic concept, “how to,” testing & evaluation, industry spotlight), full lesson plans, slide decks, worksheets, and testing templates. Designers constrain resources (balsa wood, glue, supports) and span length, forcing students to balance efficiency, strength, and economy. As students test weight loads, monitor deflection, and compare designs, they get first-hand experience iterating on real prototypes.

Aligning to NGSS, TEKS, and engineering/design standards, STIIX Bridge Project brings authentic STEM into your classroom. Whether in a regular class period, STEM elective, makerspace, or competition environment, this project offers 3–4 hours of programming, adjustable to fit your pacing.

Teachers love the minimal prep required and the built-in scaffolding. Administrators appreciate the rigorous alignment, cross-disciplinary potential (math, science, language arts), and the career link to civil engineering, infrastructure, and construction. Students get the thrill of failure, iteration, and ultimate success in seeing their bridges hold weight—and learning from what breaks.
