Build, launch & iterate real-world physics
The STIIX Catapult Project challenges students to build a working catapult that launches a ping-pong ball far and accurately. They’ll explore force, trajectory, energy transfer, and mechanical advantage through hands-on design and engineering.
This isn’t simply a “build it and forget it” activity. The testing phase invites careful measurement of launch distance and accuracy, and teams compete to maximize performance while managing design trade-offs such as arm length, tension, and elasticity. Through iteration, students understand that every design decision has consequences—and that refinement is part of any engineering process.
For teachers, the STIIX Catapult Project comes fully supported: lesson plans, build-sheets, testing guides, and presentation templates make deployment smooth. Plus, STIIX’s model allows flexible scaling for different class sizes and schedules.
By the end, students don’t just learn about physics—they apply it, iterate toward better performance, and gain confidence in real-world problem solving. The STIIX Catapult Project makes STEM tangible, fun, and deeply educational.
